Well-known South African lifestyle and wedding photographer Laurika van Straaten started her career as professional photographer in 1997. She has successfully established, co-owned an managed a photographic studio for more than 13 years, whereafter she went solo, trading as “Laurika’s Photography” with a home-based studio at 11 Winter Street, Dan Pienaar, Bloemfontein.
She has more than 18 years’ experience in the professional photography industry.
Her client base covers couples, families, children and businesses across South Africa, and even from abroad.
She has photographed hundreds of weddings over the past 18 years of her professional career.
Apart from her striking wedding and family photographs, Laurika is especially well-known for her touching images of pregnant mommies and newborn babies.
Laurika’s passion is people, and she sees her occupation as professional photographer as a means of ministering to couples, families, children and business owners, and creating wonderful memories for them. She explains her passion for taking photos as follows:

I take photos because I love to let the creativity given to me by my Creator take root in beautiful images…
Taking photos fulfils my desire to bring joy to others. It is a blessing to be able to give to others something money cannot buy – beautiful memories of loved ones!
I love people and enjoy seeing them love one another as I look through the lens.
Photos are almost forever. They exist long enough to allow us to smile, cry, laugh and fall in love all over again.
I delight in seeing the moment and capturing it before it’s gone forever…almost like magic…
